Samira Salih al-Nuaimi, oil on canvas, 36" x 36", 2015. Iraqi civil right lawyer who critized the destruction of historic sites by the ISIS. She was taken from her home by the ISIS and later tortured and murdered by the group. The picture memorizes her and to celebrate her everlasting life ("tree of life" in the background) and tremendous courage.

Street Musicians, oil on canvas, 36" x 48", 2014.. This is based on a photograph taken by the artist in Asheville, NC. The artist was attracted to the musicians' dignified image and their devotion to their music. Their neat, colorful threadbare attire was also very appealing.
